Who am I…

About Me

Hi, I’m Holly McLane, a Neurodiversity Coach and the founder of Empowering Unique Journeys.

I support autistic and ADHD children, teens, and young adults in developing self-understanding, executive functioning skills, emotional regulation, and self-advocacy.

With over 12 years of experience as a special education teacher and advocate, I’ve worked alongside neurodivergent learners and their families in school, home, and transition settings.

My work is grounded in the belief that neurodivergent individuals thrive when they are understood, supported, and given tools that respect who they are—not when they are pressured to mask or conform.

My Background

I hold a Master’s in Special Education and have extensive experience supporting students with autism and ADHD in educational settings.

Over the years, I’ve worked closely with families navigating school systems, IEPs, and transitions into adolescence and adulthood.

I bring both professional training and lived experience working within educational systems to my coaching practice, but my approach is intentionally centered on growth, autonomy, and strengths.

My Approach

I believe meaningful growth happens when neurodivergent individuals are:

  • understood as whole people

  • supported in their strengths

  • given space to build self-awareness

  • included as active participants in their own development

In my coaching sessions, I focus on:

  • building trust and connection first

  • understanding each individual’s strengths and challenges

  • developing practical life and executive functioning skills

  • supporting self-advocacy and independence

My role is not to “fix” behaviors, but to help individuals better understand themselves and develop tools that support their daily lives, relationships, and future goals.

Who I Support

I work with:

  • Autistic children (with parent collaboration as appropriate)

  • Neurodivergent teens building independence and self-advocacy

  • Young adults navigating school, work, and transition to adulthood

What I Help With

  • Executive functioning skills (planning, organization, follow-through)

  • Emotional regulation and anxiety support

  • Self-advocacy in school, college, and workplace settings

  • Social understanding and communication strategies

  • Transition planning and independence skills

This Work Is a Good Fit For Families Who

  • value neurodiversity-affirming supportThey

  • are open to understanding their child in new ways

  • want to support independence rather than complianceWe

  • are looking for strengths-based skill development

This Is Not

  • ABA or behavior compliance programming

  • A focus on eliminating autistic traits or masking behavior

  • A replacement for therapy, medical care, or school services

My goal is to support neurodivergent individuals in building confidence, self-understanding, and the skills they need to navigate life in ways that work for them.
